After the end of the Second World War and the proclamation of independence, August 14, 1947, India has continued the training of its selected shooters who were in possession of the British Enfield rifle No. 4 Mk1 T and telescope n ° 32. This school instructions closely followed the lines of the teaching system of English, adjusted to rich the needs of Indian conditions. Not having considered the necessity to implement a sniper project the Indian Military Forces decided to use the British No. 4 Mk1 T with a specific course of eight weeks, which was held at the School of Infantry at MHOW (central India).
In 1962 were assembled a few hundred rifles sniper using actions of N4 Enfield Mk2 (using the trigger solidarity with the receiver) supplied by British Gov. reworked at Ishapore and telescope and N°32 MK3.
This rifle is part of that little lot for which he is to be considered rare.

Both the rifle ,the mount and the optic are matching numbers
The conditions for this sample are also very good because of recent production (1962) and even because the metal parts are completely painted (as L42A1)

In the wrist are off-set markings RF 1962 RFI
Complete with scope metal box N ° 8 Mk1 second type.
