Turkey was Mauser’s best customers for many years, and contracts from the imperial Ottoman government kept the Oberndorf firm busy for almost a decade.

As soon as the Turkey Army learned about the development of the new Spanish Model of 1893, they placed an order for about 201.100 rifles in the same configuration but their rifles were chambered for the 7.65×53mm  cartridge, and were virtually identical to the Spanish model, except for the addition of a unique magazine cutoff  (the cutoff was a spring-actuated lever pivoted in the right side of the action) which permitted the feeding of single cartridges, while keeping the magazine full.The Magazine Cutoff is unique among Mauser rifles to the Turkish model of 1893.

The rifle bears Arabic alphabet markings. Left part of marking stands for 1312 year (correspond to Christian year 1894), which denotes when the rifle was produced. Markings between stars means “Mauser Arms Co.,Oberndorf a./N.”)

To calculate in what Islamic year you are, is not sufficient to subtract from the sum of Gregorian 622 (year-Hégira escape of Muhammad from Mecca), but for the above moon characteristics, you must calculate the correlation using the following formula:
•    To calculate from Islamic year to Gregorian year  G = H + 622 – (H/33)
•    To calculate from Gregorian year to Islamic year  H = G – 622 + (G - 622)/31.
For a very rough estimate, multiply the Islamic year number by 0.97 and add 622 to get the Gregorian year number.

Please note the upper arm on bolt stop to put pressure on side of clip to retain it while magazine is being loaded.
To be noted that most part of this rifles have had the cut off group dismantled or removed (due to a number of difficulties suffered by the inexperienced troups )and most have been converted during 30’s in Cal. 8×57 JS
For this reason, to find a rifle in original pristine condition and caliber like this one  is very difficult.

However uncommon rifle and generally found  in poor condition ,arsenal refurbished or field repaired and modified , this  piece is in great condition .
This rifle is in excellent ++ overall condition retaining 90-95% of its original blue and matching serial except for the bolt . It is in original caliber7.65×53mm and configuration with cut off.
The stock has been lightly cleaned in old date and is in excellent condition with very few handling marks. All markings are clear. The rifle is mechanically excellent and rifling in the bore is strong and shining. It would be hard to improve on this rifle.
